The Campus Bridge Big Brother/Big Sister Program

Our experience in international education tells us that the first semester, in particular, is the most challenging time for international students. There are the day to day adjustments like getting over jet lag and getting used to American food.  But students must also overcome obstacles of a larger scale – adapting to a new country, a new language, a new school, and a new host family. No one is better equipped to counsel new students through their first few months in the U.S. than our older students who have already adjusted to school life in America. That is why Campus Bridge has set up the Campus Bridge Big Brother/Big Sister Program, which pairs older, experienced international students with first-year students. The older students share tips, thoughts and advice with their “Little Brother” or “Little Sister” in order to help ease their transition to American life. Together with the Campus Bridge Advisors, the “Big Brother/Big Sister” mentoring program offers another layer of support for our new students to ensure they make a smooth adjustment to school life in the U.S.
